Sopa Azteca + Champiqueso
I wasn’t too impressed by this restaurant. The Sopa Azteca was quite tasty but the champiqueso (melted cheese + mushrooms) was overly greasy and the service was slow. I’m also confused as to why they consider themselves a Brazilian establishment when it seems pretty Mexican to me.

I am thrilled that I live a mere 10 minute walk to Mercado Medellin. All of the vendors that I met said that as a vegetarian, I lucked out. I could have been situated next to other markets such as the historical Mercado de San Juan in Xochimilco, which sells large variety of meats ie pigs, chickens, maguey worms, and sharks, to name a few. Lucky for me, Medellin specializes in the sale of fruits, vegetables, grains, and other foods vegetarians consider a staple and in comparison, has a tiny meat section. Like all mercados, there are many food stalls to choose from but excited from my purchases, I raced home to make lunch. On my next trip to Medallin, I will find what vegetarian goodies they have to offer and report back.
